Who we are
Wild Feathers Books is a team effort, led by writer, Amber Barnes, and artist, Jena Comperatore.
We develop children’s book with a focus on authentic messaging and genuine storytelling. Through our stories, our characters embark on journeys that teach them self-love, kindness, and the importance of the human-nature relationship.
Meet the Author
Amber Marie Barnes
Throughout childhood Amber was known for her bright and vivid imagination and never being afraid to dance to the beat of her own drum.
She is always excited to try new things and enjoys random adventures, travel, hiking, cycling, reading, cooking and spending time with her beloved family and friends.
While Amber enjoys being creative, she also works toward helping others and her community. Amber has spent most of her career in the behavioral health field advocating and using her voice to lift and support others.
Amber has long held a love of nature, animals and the world around her- especially birds. She decided to take her love of the world around her and the humans in it to share the stories she has long imagined by writing books for children centering around nature, empathy and kindness.
Meet The Artist
Jena Comperatore
Hello!Jena grew up always having a paint brush in hand. Her parents both have artistic backgrounds and always encouraged her to be creative and try new forms of expression.
Throughout high school Jena leaned towards a career in Art Advertising, and focused on Art and Design at a local vocational school. After she graduated her creativity took her towards a career as a hair stylist which she still enjoys today as a curly hair specialist.
Jena rediscovered her passion for watercolor during the pandemic and has continued ever since. Jena pursues her passion by having pop-up shops of prints, jewelry and other art around the Harrisburg, PA area.
